James Donnelly: The Introverted Entrepreneur
Being introverted can certainly make work more challenging. James Donnelly, the CEO of Castle Group, a homeowner’s association management group, found that being introverted means his work take a lot more energy; but also finds that his ability to listen strengthens his relationships. He discusses his growth as an entrepreneur on ENTREPRENEURradio.
James Donnelly’s career began as a CPA at Arthur Anderson, but he was uninspired and looking for greater challenge. “I didn’t have any contemplation of failure at any point. I believed at the time it was a straight line to the top”. When the rules of real estate investment changed unexpectedly, he learned first hand how quickly the market could falter.
James says that his nature as an introvert presented challenges as the demands for leadership expanded, but he learned to use that aspect of his personality as an advantage. “Delegate everything, but don’t take your eye off the ball– and only escalate those items that need escalation,” he shares in his interview with ENTREPRENEURradio.
